Respected by her peers for her teaching and dance, Heather Morrow has studied and performed in a multitude of dance and performing arts, including classical ballet, jazz, African, hip-hop, theatre and kiting. She found tango at St. Johns College in Santa Fe in 1994, while studying math, philosophy and the classic written works of the worlds greatest minds-- Aristotle, Plato, Socrates
Tango brought her to study and work with todays most respected master tango teachers. Her diverse education in tango and other movement arts bring her a style that remains unclassifiable, while still portraying the elements of all her greatest teachers. Insatiably curious, Heathers open mind motivates her to continually study with the best talent she can find. Heather commits herself fully to the dance, continually refining her skills and seeking new means to explain and facilitate learning tango.
As a tango educator and dancer, she endeavors to stretch the minds and bodies of her students to go beyond themselves, building confidence and body awareness, so that improvisation and the deliciously intimate contortions of tango come more naturally.
Heathers dance easily ranges from subtle to dynamic, milonguero to ethereal nuevo. No matter the style, as a performer she is recognized on the dance floor by her intensely musical footwork; her leaders know her by her wonderful connection and extreme grounded-ness; her followers get lost in her musicality and clear embrace. Her 4 year old son, Luca already sings tangos while she practices amongst his playthings and impassionately leads her down the toy aisle.
Heather has partnered with many of todays most respected dancers, including Chas Gale, Daniel Trenner, Jaimes Friedgen, Homer Ladas, Alejandro Nievas and Isaac Oboka. She teaches how to melt and connect emotionally and physically with your partner, the music and the other couples; whether dancing close-embrace, salon or a dynamic nuevo style. For her, no matter the style, it is all tango when two dancers make contact with the music and one another.
